Prior to his move to Rangers, he rejected Dundee Utd's advances in favour of remaining at Livingston and was rewarded with a CIS Cup winners' medal following a stunning 2-0 win over Hibs at Hampden in March 2004.

Andrews has also sampled playing in Europe when Livingston faced Sturm Graz in the UEFA Cup.

Marv, born in San Juan Trinidad, had been linked with both Old Firm clubs during his time in Scotland but he felt the time was now right to join Alex McLeish's revolution.

After spells at Raith Rovers and the Lions, the physical defender was expected to be a squad player at Ibrox but he held off the likes of Bob Malcolm and Zura Khizanishvili to become a key figure in Rangers' defence.

His whole-hearted and enthusiastic approach - he can head the ball further than most folk can kick it - have won over many of the Light Blue supporters and he has chipped in with a few vital goals as well.

Andrews, a devout Christian, was delighted to move to the club. He said: "I am so happy to join Rangers and be on board with one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

"I am really, really delighted and I thanks God for giving me the opportunity to come to a wonderful club like Rangers.

"I has chances to leave Livingston before but the time was right for me to move on. This is going to be a great opportunity and experience for me and I can't wait to show people what I can do.

"I want to take the chance Alex McLeish has given me and show that I can compete at this level. I am going to do my best and enjoy my time at the club."

Marv picked up knee ligament damage near the end of the 2004/05 campaign and missed out on a place in the CIS Cup Final side.

However, he was back for the remaining five SPL games of the season and played an important role as Rangers clinched their 51st league flag.

He is also a popular member of the dressing room and his team-mates voted him Players' Player of the Year at the club's own awards ceremony in May, 2005.

Marv continued to be a key player in the Gers' squad in 2005/06 and helped to take his national team to the World Cup in Germany.

Fans will recall the remarkable defender wore a T-shirt at Easter Road on that unforgettable final day championship win that read 'The things that are impossible with men, are possible with God.'
